This webinar is the first in a three-part goal-setting series I delivered for Ignite Aotearoa. Their mission is to make mental health and wellbeing support accessible anytime, anywhere. I’m a proud provider on their Wellbeing+ Platform and Marketplace, and I’m thankful to be able to share this session with you.
Setting goals is easy. Achieving them? Not so much.
In this webinar, I talk through what really helps goals last beyond that early burst of enthusiasm. Using behaviour change science, coaching experience, and plenty of real-life examples, we explore why following through can feel hard, and what actually helps you stay consistent.
We look at why goals matter, how they shape your direction, and why it’s completely normal to feel some resistance when you’re trying to make a change. I explain the two things every goal needs: a clear reason that matters to you, and a simple plan that fits into your real life, not your ideal one.
I also walk through some of the common mistakes people make when setting goals (and yes, these happen to very smart, very capable people) along with simple ways to avoid them. And because choosing a goal can sometimes feel harder than achieving one, we spend time looking at how to work out what you actually want, especially when life feels crowded or you’re unsure where to start.
By the end of this webinar you’ll know how to:
- Connect your goal to a meaningful “why”
- Build a plan that supports you instead of overwhelming you
- Avoid the five goal-setting traps that can derail progress
- Take a tiny first step so you build momentum immediately.
This webinar is all about making goal setting feel realistic and encouraging, with less pressure and more clarity.
